My favourite cat lives on a bookshelf
My favourite dog is made of brown thread;
My favourite people were born of stone
Hundreds of years ago.
Saturday evenings I stand by myself
Here in the town square, scattering fresh bread
For birds, and smiles for those shuffling alone
Past me in the thin snow.
