Human Copyright

They are going to clone babies
now that it is possible
under new lax laws
concerning human copyright.

I worry what this might mean
for future generations
so I have hidden my own
inside the tumble drier
to be safe.

Not even my wife knows
where I have hidden the baby
for the moment
until we know what we are dealing with,
until things settle down.

He is swaddled in still-warm sheets
and odd socks and underwear;
the machine unplugged,
just in case.
