Astrid – David Capps

In an uneven light
I saw your face,

before you turned,
and again became

a ghost. The things
we used to say,

bruises on mangoes
rolled over, over

in the smooth palm
of evening.

David Capps is an adjunct professor of philosophy at Quinnipiac University. He did a PhD in philosophy at University of Connecticut and then an MFA in poetry at Southern Connecticut State University after being unable to successfully stifle his creative impulses. His cat’s name is Purrbasket.
